JAFIA is a music band that has successfully emerged out of the reggae scene of Eastern Europe (Poland) in the early 90's as Jafia Namuel. Since then, the band has evolved to create a unique style of music for the new generation of listeners and changed its name.

Their style is a genuine synthesis of rock, funk, jazz, r&b, blues, electronic dance music and reggae. Especially their last release entitled KA RA VA NA, merging these genres together into one original, modern style.

With album releases, gigs, videoclips, engagement in charity activities and many international collaborations, JAFIA has gained a reputation in the music scene, for pushing the boundaries and widening the scope for conscious music.

The rich and diverse musical journey of JAFIA has been supported by collaborations that include live performances and studio recordings with artists such as, gospel singer Dorrey Lin Lyles, with other choir members, Kayah who is one of the most renowned female voices of Eastern European mainstream, music producer and composer Marcin Pospieszalski, acclaimed jazz Hammond organist Wojciech Karolak and recently, Stephen Newland, leader and singer at Rootz Underground from Jamaica, who had joined the forces with JAFIA. On Summertime 2017, JAFIA and Newland had performed live on the most significant festivals in Poland.

Dawid Portasz, songwriter, composer, singer and leader of JAFIA, is acknowledged as one of the most charismatic figures in the Polish music scene. He is the co-founder of other international acts that include a project called Rastasize, which released the album Day By Day, recorded at Tuff-Gong Jamaica in collaboration with the absolute elite, Grammy awarded musicians representing worldwide reggae music.

Before these collaborative efforts, Dawid was a singer and writer for the very first techno band in Poland called Millennium, which was signed by Universal Music. The Brainhole was another project that followed, involving musicians from all around the world and established in London. This led to a one-off collaboration called Sedativa, an Arabic/Israeli/Polish collective, which released an album entitled "I", that was declared by the critics as one of the most eclectic productions on the Polish music scene.

The recent album of JAFIA, KA RA VA NA signed by Warner Music was nominated for the Academy Awards Fryderyk 2017. The band is just about to release a single/video clip promoting their new album coming out on Springtime 2018.
