Their own, unique variation of the world-music genre is inspired by a variety of world’s musical cultures (most prominently oriental, but also Polish) and the European early music.
The origins of the band and the inspirations they draw can be traced back to a mysterious and wild peak in the Bieszczady Mountains - Matragona. It is also the region from which the members of the group come from. Laureates of many prizes, including of the prestigious Polish Radio Folk Festival ‘Nowa Tradycja’ (New Tradition).
Transcending the boundaries of world music, the band’s musicians collaborate with many other groups within a variety of genres, including KSU (PL, punk-rock), KARPATON (SL, folk), SDM (PL), Angela Gaber Trio (PL), Raya-Bell (PL, reggae). Matragona has also composed music for film and theatre.
