A band was born in autumn of 2008 in Skarzysko-Kamienna, a town in the Swietokrzyskie Mountains in the center of Poland. First, they played a folk-rock music. Later, when new members and instruments, like fiddles, a tenor banjo and whistle joined, they turned to the traditional way of playing and singing.
Now Old Mariners is a quintet of five original voices and instruments; a fiddle, a flute, a thin whistle, an acoustic guitar, a bass guitar, a tenor banjo, a mandolin , a bodhran and lot of traditional instruments.
During the activity Old Marinners get a lot of prizes at maritime festivals in Poland. In 2012, they were prized of a regional music award "Scyzoryki Swietokrzyskie" in ethno & folk cathegory. In 2015 they released his debiu album "Set Sail", with the lot of traditional sea songs in new arrangements, own compositions, and other folk music on it.
