The group’s style – alternative ethno – is largely based on improvisation and therefore on the cooperation between the group’s different members. They are uncompromising, but their music is tempered by infectious melodies.
The charm of Stilo’s music enthuses both listeners and critics who have provided the band trophies: the 1st Prize at the New Tradition Festival (2002), organized by Polish Radio, and the 2nd Prize in the journalists' voting Folk Phonogram of The Year for the „Idą czasy” CD (2004).
In the summer of 2009 the fourth album, „Lisboa Avenue”, was nominated for Just Plain Folks Music Award, American internet poll dedicated to independent music from all over the world – in the „European Album” category. This CD was recorded with Portugal and Iranian guests. It was not an accident. The band has been always opened for collaboration with artists from different countries and cultures. In the first line-up of Stilo there were two Turkish musicians, playing on nay, saxophone, darbuka, bendir and spoons. The band collaborates with a great Ukrainian singer, actress and harmonium player Mariana Sadovska, too. It’s worth to mention that Stilo has performed so far in Poland, Czech Republic and Hungary.
Currently the band celebrates its 20th anniversary.
